An Entire Hospital In Confusion

We were told by the Trust the closure of the A&Es would not effect cancer or heart patients not so.My partner was supposed to be admitted to hospital yesterday to have part of his bowel removed due to cancer and to cut a long story short was informed there were no beds and come in the next morning to check other wise it would be cancelled. Then received another phone call to say he should be in?

When he eventually did get a bed he was told they thought he was in for a hernia operation and that the confusions are due to A&E dumping patients into any available bed in the hospital so that they can meet their targets.

He had thank goodness had his op, but my complaint is that with the entire hospital in confusion due to the A&E closures how long will it go on until a patient dies as a result.

  1. It is terrible you were treated like this. More people like yourself need to come forward and uncover the lies, false figures and cover-up that is currently being managed by The Northern Health Trust!

  2. I blame targets. It might be suitable to some businesses and industries as a method of measuring sales or targets but it is INSANE to use it in a Health system. I would like to meet whoever thought it up and put them in A&E so they can lay in their own bed, if there is one available, but they probably have private insurance anyway...

My heart also goes out to the people in the health service working under these conditions nevermind all the other stuff they have to contend with from the patients.

    All in all its disgraceful.
